27–29 April: RTK Familiarisation Trip

The Austrian event organisation RTK visited Toblach/Dobbiaco from 27 to 29 April to take a closer look at the 3 Cime MICE Region. We started with an aperitif at Val Castello, where the castle owners gave us a warm welcome and shared the history of the estate and the family. After duly admiring the many taxidermied animals, we headed to Hotel Rosengarten for a Tyrolean evening. Tyrolean delicacies were enjoyed alongside Daniel's pieces on the Styrian harmonica. Everyone received a musical instrument and was invited to join in the Tyrolean music, and the evening wrapped up with fine wine and Gin Tonic. The second day took us to HOKU Skiworld, where a number of ladies got to try skiing on the ski carpet, guided by Kurt Taschler and his daughter, professional athlete Alenah.

An event full of surprises

The second day of the familiarisation trip was packed with surprises. On the agenda were visits to the Gustav Mahler Cultural Centre, Hotel Union including a wine tasting in its beautifully renovated cellar, and Hotel Savoia, where Harry Potter-style candles adorn the rooms. A walk around the lake was also planned, weather permitting. Spontaneously, the group also visited the Three Peaks viewpoint, where the mighty mountains can be seen from afar, Alpe Pragas, where fine fruits are transformed into jams, juices and mustards without preservatives, and Sennerei Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks Dairy), where we got a detailed look at traditional cheesemaking methods. All in all, right up to Wednesday's departure, it was a very fine event with numerous highlights and a great deal of warmth.

February 27th, 2026 – Mexican Championship

The Mexican Cup in Toblach has long become a well-established tradition in the region’s winter sports calendar. For many years, international skiers have gathered at the Rienz ski lift in the 3 Zinnen Racing Arena to compete in the Mexican Ski Championships right in the heart of the Dolomites. The combination of thrilling competition, an international atmosphere, and lively celebrations makes this event a true highlight of the winter season every year. In 2026, the Mexican Cup once again brought exciting races and a fantastic atmosphere from February 27 to March 1. Athletes from numerous nations took to the perfectly prepared race slopes in Toblach, while spectators enjoyed a weekend full of ski action, music, and great vibes.

Party with the Prince of Mexico

A special highlight was the performance of Hubertus von Hohenlohe, the charismatic Prince of Mexico. The former Olympic alpine skier, photographer, and musician delighted the audience not only as a sporting personality but also on stage. After the races, he created a lively atmosphere with a concert, turning the award ceremony at the Rienz ski lift into a true Mexican-Alpine party. The Mexican Cup once again demonstrates how international winter sports in the Dolomites truly are – and how Toblach uniquely combines sporting tradition, culture, and a vibrant joy of life.

16/02/2026 – The 5 Rings

With the Five Rings Evening, Toblach and the Euregio Gustav Mahler Cultural Centre became a place of international dialogue. Music, art and Olympic values came together in an evening that built a cultural bridge from Beijing 2022 to Milan–Cortina 2026. Symphonic film music, lyrical voices and an intercultural art exhibition vividly demonstrated how the Olympic spirit reaches far beyond sport – acting as a unifying force between people and cultures. Under the direction of Maresciallo Maestro Massimiliano Picca, the Fanfara of the 1st Air Region Command of the Italian Air Force captivated the audience. The evening was further enhanced by the Chinese soprano Fan Zhou and tenor Wang Sanlin, who added a special brilliance with selected arias.

An Evening in the Olympic Spirit

The accompanying art exhibition was then opened, featuring sculptures by South Tyrolean artist Friedrich Sebastian Feichter and portrait works by Chinese artist and researcher Tong Yanrunan. This was followed by a reception in the Hall of Mirrors with an international buffet and a presentation by Nicola Paulon, highlighting the strengths of the winter sports regions 3 Zinnen Dolomites and Kronplatz as training destinations for international professional athletes. The evening concluded with a tribute to former Olympic athletes from Toblach: Monika Schwingshackl, the sisters Nathalie and Saskia Santer, and Simone Fontana. A distinguished guest who could not be missing was Hubertus von Hohenlohe.
